“I think this trip would have worked better as a trip to just Gori and Uplistsikhe, and to spend more time in Gori, for example to include a visit to the fortress. It was a long additonal drive just to spend an hour in Borjomi where to be honest there is not much more there than a park. The trip to the Stalin museum and the Uplistsikhe cave was interesting and the resteraunt the company took us to was good. Our guide was also very knowledgable and interestintg and explained everything in English and Russian.”

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 73 reviews · 9 to 10 hours (approx.) · from $24

Travel from Tbilisi in a small group of up to 15 people to Jvari Monastery, Mtskheta’s Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, Stalin’s birthplace in Gori, and the rock-cut town of Uplistsikhe. Guides such as David, Natalia, Lasha, Tami, and Diana have led this route. Bring sturdy shoes, church-appropriate clothing, and cash for entry fees and lunch.

“This tour is not for those with mobility issues as they will miss out on exploring Uplitsikhe. The incongruity of visiting Stalin's museum and then one of the cathedrals his government tried to destroy seems to be lost on Georgian culture. Still, this was a very good tour, with plenty of time to take some stunning pictures. There is little doubt that Uplistsikhe is absolutely astonishing and has to be seen to be believed.”

“George was a friendly, informative guide who made sure that we had a great day. We liked that it was a private tour so we could move at our own pace. The car was very comfortable and George was an excellent driver. The tour had a nice combination of sights - we liked that it included the Stalin museum and the ancient cave town of Uplistsikhe. George didn't accompany us up to the top of Uplistsikhe which is perhaps understandable as it is a very strenuous climb, but doing it without a guide was tough as the signage is not good and it is difficult to know which tracks are…”
